Job Description

Technical Specifications Co-ordinator

Location: Leicester

Salary £25-32,000

Our client is a global food manufacturing business with brands that delight the consumer every day. As part of a global Regulatory Specifications programme they are seeking support to co-ordinate the specifications realignment by co-ordinating data between teams in to one centralised Specifications system. You will have experience of using specification systems and have worked in a quality or R&D role in the past within a food manufacturing environment.

The role:

Day-to-day coordination of the Connected Compliance specifications tool including data entry, establishing business process and ways of working with document owners and trouble shooting

Provide support in delivering complete, accurate, connected and traceable specifications for ingredients, packaging and finished products to ensure the business can effectively demonstrate compliance against all EU Food and Beverage regulations

Connect closely with Connected Compliance Programme Lead to ensure that scope and deliverables for the project will meet the requirements of enhancing the company’s ability to demonstrate regulatory compliance

Be the point person for the Specifications Tool to answer user, stakeholder and IT queries

Collaborate with the Customer Action Team, R&D and EU Supply Chain QC Leads to collate and capture data to link specifications and maintain ongoing

Integrate and coordinate activities across the other work streams within the project ensuring a consistent approach and developing shared solutions

Manage report and metrics and ensure Connectivity Tool is delivering against its key objectives

Define and execute strategy to ensure consistent and harmonised data entry in the Connectivity Tool and conduct periodic data reviews and implement corrective actions as necessary

Work with R&D Document Owners to enter Specification data into the connectivity tool to link to a Product Formula

Establish business process for Document Owners to populate data in the “Connectivity Tool”

Communicate to Senior Supervisor and Program Lead on progress ensuring that the Tool remains on track

Collaborate with all other work streams within Connected Specs to ensure we have a common solution

Define and execute strategy to ensure consistent and harmonised data entry in the Connectivity Tool and conduct periodic data reviews and implement corrective actions as necessary

Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the “Connectivity Tool” with the ability to trouble-shoot user’s questions, and assist IT for the maintenance of the tool and testing before release of a new version

Collaborate with the Team, providing “Connectivity Tool” data and insights to support special projects including other EU workstreams


The person:

Degree level qualification (or equivalent) in Food science, Food Engineering, Applied Biology, Biochemistry or equivalent discipline

Experience in the Food industry in a science or quality focused role

Understands recipes/formulations/BOM’s and their relationship to ingredients and packaging

Technical understanding across a range of food manufacturing operations, including specifications

Understanding of Project Lifecycle Management (PLM) IT solutions and specification management (SAP, Oracle or Product Vision)

Excellent interpersonal skills

Self confident strong communicator across all stakeholder groups – internal & external

Fluent in English, spoken and written

Cultural sensitivity/flexibility in responding to different cultures

Self-starter able to work independently and within cross-functional teams
