Specifications Technologist – Food Manufacturing

Location: Leicestershire

Salary: £22-32,000

We are seeking an academically strong Specifications Technologist to join a global food manufacturing business initially on a 6 -12 month contract. This is a fantastic opportunity for candidates with a Food Science degree and relevant work experience to join one of the best teams in the food manufacturing industry.

The role:

Reporting to the R&D Manager you will be responsible for completion of identified data gaps within historical specifications & recipes to become auditable compliant and ready for the next phase pf the programme.

You will have the ability to connect effectively with a cross-section of R&D peers, with attention to technical data and accuracy is essential.

Completion of 80% gap identified across recipes, both internal and co-manufacturing finished good specifications, weak link documentations and general other data management across a variety of business owned systems.

Ensures best practise protocols and pathways for help guides are written to allow for the wider R&D team to be aware of updates and best practices for ongoing data management completion.

Specification and legacy recipe completion

Align on approvals of correct technical specifications and gap completion updates

Data management updates and protocol/approach training

Discuss specification parameters, align on agreed and signed final specifications

Communication on information sharing regarding active specifications and supplier approvals. Input for audits

The person:

First Degree or equivalent in a Food Science discipline.

Understanding of product & process development, ideally within Food Manufacturing and Consumer Goods (FMCG) environment

Experience in specification interpretation and documentation skills, including word & excel

Fluent in English and ideally at least one other language

Strong analytical skills and detail oriented – ability to interpret data and distil into useful and relevant information

Knowledge of product development and recipe interpretation

Ability to communicate effectively across all levels and all functions of the organisation.

Self-starter and self-motivating

Strives for high standards, seeks innovative solutions, drives continuous improvement of processes or methods and demonstrates a high degree of intellectual curiosity
