First Line managers

We currently recruiting for a number of First Line Managers for an exciting contract in Daventry.  The main purpose of the role is ensure the effective co-ordination of all warehouse related activities, by controlling the work flow across all areas of the operation through adherence to the agreed operational processes and procedures to routinely meet the key performance indicators.  The successful candidate must ensure the effective communication, leadership, motivation as well as training & development for their team to meet the demands of the business.

The shift pattern will be 06.00 – 14.00/14.00 – 22.00 5/7 days.  Therefore the successful candidate must have flexibility in the Days and times that they can work. 

Key Accountabilities of the role;

To control the combined overall output of each operational shift by co-ordinating their team and operational activities and effective communication between operations/customer services and Stock control by understanding, all key operational processes and procedures.
Maintaining “real time” status control of all warehouse related operational activities to ensure the effective flow of goods into, through and out of the warehouse by monitoring the operational team performance of the on shift. Motivating individuals and teams where slippage occurs against expected time lines and milestones and taking preventive action to reduce risks of service failures or re-occurring issues.
To plan, manage and adjust staffing levels to meet operational requirements.
Accountability for the individual and team performance of staff to ensure that high levels of productivity are maintained and where necessary redeploying colleagues quickly and efficiently.
To understand customer ethos and operational priorities and be conversant with the targets contained within the contracts service level agreement and key performance indicators.
To be aware of the customers’ product range and its impact on receiving locating and dispatching its product combined with specific transport requirements for the customer.
Ensuring regular team reviews / probation reviews / appraisals and on the job status updates are conducted with the Team to ensure they understand the previous 24 hours performance achieved and the coming 24 hours targets.
To manage and control effective communications and interdepartmental relationships which enhance staff engagement levels acting in line with Clipper’s Code of Conduct.
To continue with the development of operational working practices and safe systems of work, and SOP’s ensuring that realistic training plans and interventions are implemented to ensure the Company is legal and compliant in all key areas of health safety.
To lead by example demonstrating appropriate behaviours and values of Clipper.
To ensure housekeeping standards are consistently maintained.
To carry out other duties as directed by your Manager. 

Person Specification / Skills

Considerable experience in motivating and leading teams within a fast moving deadline orientated environment 
Awareness of basic budgeting and appropriate cost control awareness
Ability to react to change and take proactive steps to maintain control or recovery issues
Good organisational skills
Experience of handling employee relation issues
Good communicator – verbal and written
Knowledge of health & Safety requirements
Knowledge of JDA despatcher would be advantageous but not essential 
Computer literate, experience of WMS systems and MS Office packages
Customer Facing experience
Self -motivated, starter-finisher, ability to prioritise work loads with the ability to work under own initiative
